Hi I’m Marc Buzzell,
Buzzell is pronounced like puzzle but with a “B”. Because my first name is french it’s interesting how people interpretate my last name. I grew up in rural Quebec, in the Eastern Townships right on the border of Vermont USA, I’m completely bilingual in English and French.
I’m a fulltime video producer, I write, I shoot and I edit. Most of my work comes from wedding videos and corporate videos, but I do also contract my services to the film industry. During my free time I produce independent videos. I’m currently producing a travel series entitled The Green Traveller hosted by Robert Doane. The show documents an eco-journey through the Pacific Northwest.
My favourite part of what I do is shaping visions into videos. Ideas are often very vague and abstract yet the core of them translate very well but they are interpretated in different ways by different people, my expertise is adding the reality aspect to these ideas, what, where, who, when and how. I try to find a concrete example as a guideline for me and my collaborators to turn the vision into reality.
I like to discuss target market, best distribution medium and etc, but my honest expertise is really how to run the camera so It works out great in editing.
My business consists of creating visual stories and documenting events. This ranges from doing online video business profiles, portfolio, EPK’s to documenting life’s most amazing moments such as weddings and gatherings.
I live in the most beautiful place on earth, the Sunshine Coast of BC surrounded by my good friends and my gorgeous girlfriend Meg.
I’m fairly new to the Sunshine Coast “as most locals would claim (2 years)”. I moved here coming from a multitude of years in Urbania – Vancouver.
I grew up in rural Quebec so I’ve found a home like comfort here on the Coast. It’s great how I have the opportunity to work in Vancouver and return home at night in my quiet pad in West Sechelt.
But i’m even more grateful that my business is beginning to find more and more work here locally on the Sunshine Coast. I love sharing my skills with my neighbours and working in a tight community like ours.
My story about how I ended up in BC is a long one with a whole bunch of wild twist and too many plot points to even create a story arc..But the short version is, I tree planted as a young adult and then did community support work, where i met this gorgeous young blond that i’m still with 9 years later. I then followed my dream of video production and went to university “Capilano North Vancouver” Upon graduating I worked as a production assistant and many of the people whom worked with me back then would remember me as “Frenchy”. I did several years of shows, movies and mostly commercials. I moved up the ranks until I decided I wanted out. “Believe me these guys work long days and very hard”… I started working for a small production company that did mostly corporate and government videos, it was a small company but it ran a tight ship… 2 different TV series, weekly corporate stuff and government videos and much much more. I learned so much from working with these guys that I honestly must contribute a large portion of my skills to them. I luckily moved up to editor position and have edited nationally broadcasted commercials
Eventually things calmed down and it was either a demotion or another career change. Me and Meg discovered our opportunity to change our urban lifestyle so we took it and here we are on the Sunshine Coast.
On my free time, I love to fish and ride my motorbike..last year I toured across Canada on my motorcycle and had a trip of a lifetime. If your a biker on the coast we have definately waved at each other.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my VLOG I hope i provide you with some entertaining videos. If you are looking for a shooter, editor or producer look into my links and contact me. It will be my pleasure to talk to you in person.
